DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE, GOVERNMENT OF CANADA

The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade's Canadian Studies programmes were created to make Canada better known by fostering study, teaching and publications about Canada in university communities abroad. The programmes were first instituted approximately 25 years ago. Today, the Canadian studies network includes 25 associates representing some thirty countries, 7000 Canadianists and some 332 centres or programmes of Canadian studies throughout the world.

The International Academic Relations Division, composed of nine-person team including four programe managers, is responsible within the Department for the Canadian Studies programme. The Department funds a number of programmes to promote Canadian Studies for individuals and institutions including:
